Red-flanked Bluetail

Having driven through Warwickshire to Nottinghamshire on Sunday to see Hume's Leaf Warbler and Parrot Crossbills (with Paul and Pete), early this morning I joined many other birders to see the Red-flanked Bluetail that was found yesterday near Marshfield in South Glos. This is the first ever winter record of this beautiful species, which breeds on  the Russian taiga. I may well return at the weekend for more photos, having failed to capture the blue tail! Total species for the year stands at 126.
